With recent revelations of both institutional and at home abuse of elderly people, CACET Global have recently partnered with Elder Abuse Awareness Programs to present and facilitate awareness and training seminars on the abuse of the elderly for organizations and individuals who deal with and work with senior citizens.
Like child abuse, elderly people can be extremely vulnerable to abuse and exploitation especially in the areas of:
- Physical abuse
- Financial abuse
- Emotional abuse
- Neglect
- Sexual abuse and/or exploitation
The elder abuse programs clearly focus on recognition and avoidance of the abuse of the elderly including the federal mandatory notification requirements of elderly abuse in institutional settings and nursing homes.
"Abuse of the elderly is a hidden problem. Professionals and the community are generally unaware that elderly people are being abused in their own homes, usually by family members"
- Wayne Fielding – INPEA Australia representative
