After 15 years with the Protective Services-Child Protection Unit, Carl Collins was the Associate Minister of the Marion Church of Christ (South Australia’s largest Church of Christ) for over ten years. His main responsibilities included the oversight of Creative Arts and Events, as well as Youth and Children’s programs.

Carl’s philosophy in ministry was one of excellence, and when it comes to ensuring, to the best of our ability that churches are safe places for young people to grow and develop, there is no room for compromise.

Many churches and denominations are choosing "train the trainer" programs based on cost alone. Some of the most dangerous and difficult cases investigated by Carl over many years unfortunately involved churches…why? Largely due to a lack of professional and competent training, which not only fails to support and protect staff and volunteers, but above all children! Many of these churches and denominations are today facing huge law suits which in many instances have run into multi million dollar payouts. Whilst many child protection training programs are extremely well designed, they are often presented by inexperienced trainers, and in Carl’s view, fail to address critical key issues that are relevant to churches.

A powerful and gifted communicator, Carl is in demand throughout Australia and the Asia/Pacific region as a speaker and available to speak at your church.

CACET Global have recently entered into a significant agreement with the Baptist Union of South Australia (SABU) being responsible for the management and oversight of Professional Standards within that denomination.

This agreement reflects the absolute commitment by the South Australian Baptist Union to provide high quality training presented by people who know their field, with the clear view of as far as possible, ensuring that churches are safe places for children and families. Second to this, staff and volunteers are not only trained and equipped to appropriately identify and respond to abuse, but are supported in doing so.

Major contracted responsibilities include:

  • The specific design and delivery of child protection understanding and responding seminars including the Accredited Families SA Child Safe Environments training program.
  • 24 hour crisis response consultation to all churches associated with the Baptist Union of South Australia.
  • The management of infiltrated churches
  • The investigation of alleged breaches of ethical/professional standards by pastors and staff of churches.
